In all humility, our gurus incarnate in this realm to remind us of what we can’t escape as well as all that we can achieve here.
Buddha was born into a life of comfort and pleasure. I usually see this as a blessing from different lifetimes where the basics of food, shelter and clothing are not your concerns for this lifetime. If you’re born with such privileges, you know your Dharma (duty) for this lifetime is something else.
Buddha was reminded of his purpose exactly in his 28th year – the year of Saturn return. Saturn return means that the condition of Saturn in the sky currently is exactly the same as it was at the time of your birth (degree, nakshatra and zodiac sign). This happens for all of us between the age of 28-29years. Saturn as we know is maturity & karma for this life time. It’s our duty and discipline that we cannot escape. When we experience Saturn return at around age 28-29years, we are cosmically reminded of our duty and purpose for this lifetime. No matter what we’re doing in life at that point, we’re torn from it and placed on to our path that leads to our destiny. On the night of his 29th birthday, Gautam Buddha left home to seek enlightenment.
Saturn may just be discipline and maturity but spiritual enlightenment needs activation of Jupiter. There is no real wisdom if Jupiter is not willing to grant you its grace & blessings. Jupiter returns to it’s original position in your birth chart at age 35- 36years for the third time. This is the age where Saturn matures as well as Rahu & Ketu realign. This is the time when Rahu & Ketu will be in the exact same position in the sky as they were at the time of your birth. These two entities along with a matured Saturn and a Jupiter return, ensures Karma, destiny and wisdom come together in your life. With Saturn’s maturity and Jupiter’s grace, one truly becomes wise. Age 35- 36 is seen as an age of significant transformation and realisations. Gautam Buddha received enlightenment on the night of his 35th birthday. Not a day before, not a day after. He, too, needed the cosmos to align so he could fulfill his destiny.
Ever heard a story about Buddha wanting to rush to enlightenment or austerity or success of any kind? No! Because even the greatest masters know the value of time and how everything comes only when it’s meant to come to us.
Let this be a lesson for us from one of the most supreme Gurus to walk this planet – Lord Buddha.
(We bow to you.)
